You recognize the need to contribute to a fair and diverse world (of work). You are embarking on your DEIB journey and know that it is a continuous process of learning and unlearning.

Tangible DEIB progress is essential for attracting future talent. New generations are seeking workplaces that are aligned with their values. People expect concrete actions from their (future) employers, such as improving company culture and employee experience, enhancing inclusive leadership skills, and improving working conditions (HR Trendence Monitor 2022).

A holistic understanding of DEIB goes beyond representation. It includes factors such as belonging, fairness, the distribution of opportunities and resources, decision-making processes, and inclusivity across all dimensions of social categories and company hierarchies.

Belonging moves us past the fragmented approach most organizations currently have for DEIB. It is the golden thread that runs through every element of your business. To intentionally build a culture of belonging, we must acknowledge and address the barriers that hinder it, instead of ignoring or erasing differences. We need to co-create spaces where everyone can be appreciated for their differences; Allowing every person to show up in their uniqueness and be part of the solution.

Belonging is about co-creating

Inclusion focuses on “allowing” people to join an existing system, with norms, rules, and regulations already in place. When we focus on belonging, on the other hand, we invite people to shape the system in a new way. A way that considers the needs and situations of the people joining a space, and gives everyone a voice in the process. Not ignoring or erasing differences, but co-creating a shared reality, in which everyone can be unique & appreciated in their differences. That is why we focus on belonging as the golden thread that runs through all our efforts.

Our focus on belonging is inspired by and grounded in the work of the Othering and Belonging Institute (OBI), and the Democracy and Belonging Forum, of which Fox is privileged to be a member.

Creating Cultures of Care and Belonging

I want to help build a world where we allow ourselves to co-exist and collaborate with one another, without relying on prejudice, pressure, blaming and shaming, victimizing or aggrandizing.

I aspire to humbly, honestly, and curiously re-imagine what a just, equitable and inclusive world could look like, where every human can feel a sense of dignity, joy and belonging.

That is why I founded Dr. Mega Consulting.
